Sounds of Springfield

Sounds of Springfield is a public art and wellness initiative led by Springfield Cultural Partnership that invites people to create music, explore sound, and connect through shared experiences in public space. Through play, creativity, and collaboration, the installation celebrates the power of arts and culture to bring people together.

Located in Tower Square Park, the installation features six sculptural outdoor musical instruments – Aria, Manta Ray, Pagoda Bells, Lilypad Cymbals, Contrabass Chimes, and Harp – designed to invite people of all ages and abilities to create music, explore sound, and engage with public space in new ways.

As a free and accessible community asset, Sounds of Springfield encourages creativity, play, collaboration, and positive use of public space while creating opportunities for residents, workers, families, and visitors to connect through shared experiences.

Grounded in Springfield Cultural Partnership’s broader commitment to arts, civic vitality, and community wellness, Sounds of Springfield uses accessible arts participation as a tool to strengthen emotional well-being, social connection, youth engagement, and positive community interaction. The initiative reflects SCP’s belief that public art can help create welcoming, vibrant spaces that foster trust, creativity, and belonging across Springfield communities.
