The Painted Pianos Project bring music and art to the streets of Springfield. Local artists transform pianos into vibrant works of art, which are then placed throughout the city for the public to play and enjoy.
There are many spontaneous musical moments at each of the painted pianos. One went viral, capturing the magic of this project and the joy it brings to the community when Pastor Archbishop Timothy Paul and musician Shamrock came together in a random, musical moment — a true embodiment of the SCP Painted Piano project!
Painted Piano Video Goes Viral
The Painted Pianos is a summer tradition in Springfield. A video of one of the Springfield Cultural Partnership’s pianos went viral in May 2020 when Pastor Archbishop Timothy Paul and musician Shamrok came together in a random, musical moment — a true embodiment of the SCP Painted Piano project!
The piano, hand painted by artist Rebecca Fite, is installed in the Shops at MarketPlace in Downtown Springfield, near NOSH Restaurant and The Business Improvement District in Downtown Springfield.
