Born in Manatí, PR and raised in the North End of Springfield, MA, María Luisa Arroyo Cruzado earned her undergraduate and graduate degrees in German, her third language. She also earned an MFA in Creative Writing (Poetry) from the Solstice MFA Program. Her collections include Gathering Words: recogiendo palabras (2008), Flight (2016), and Destierro Means More than Exile (2018).
An engaging workshop leader for 20+ years, María Luisa fosters safe and brave spaces to generate new writing. “Discovering Our Inner Poets”, “Art in Plain Sight: Writing in Response to Massachusetts Murals”, “To Refract our Complexities, Write an American Ghazal”, and “The Business Side of Poetry” are some among many. One-on-one consultation sessions are also available.
