Frankie Borrero: Art has been my passion since early childhood. I am a self taught artist who is also colorblind. Despite the disadvantage with colors, I was able to use this to my advantage and focus on contrast and details in my work. Although my artistic interests continued throughout life, my career took a different path with dentistry not art. Unfortunately, this career came to an abrupt halt in 2015 when I was involved in an accident that resulted in a coma and being placed on life support. Miraculously, I was able to survive this traumatic event and continue to create works of art. In 2019 I moved to the city of Springfield in Massachusetts. Since my residency here I’ve had several shows and participated in two silent auction fundraisers for Hurricane Maria Relief for Puerto Rico. I have also had the privilege of working with Springfield Cultural Center and Fresh Paint Springfield on mural projects and other social events. I still struggle the traumatic brain injury with memory retention and coordination but my creativity and passion for art have since been enhanced. My goal is to continue this passion for art as therapy and also a career endeavor.
